Congratulations!
October 04, 2002
The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner and the City of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service presented citation awards and commendations to 26 Winnipeg residences for their community service or assistance at the scene of an emergency.
Jeff Derraugh and Mitch Dorge, who have played a key role in the developments of Staying Alive over the past year, received awards for their contribution towards fire and life safety.
Mitch Dorge, drummer for the Crash Test Dummies and Charlie Redstar, has helped out by donating his time and efforts to Staying Alive. Mitch volunteered his time and skills to record most of the "Hot Tips" at his home recording studio. He has recorded numerous local celebrities tips, as well as many of his own. Mitch and his band, Charlie Redstar, recorded Staying Alive's first fire safety song "Stop, Drop and Roll". Mitch also produced the second song "Smoke Alarms Ringing".
Jeff Derraugh is a firefighter with the City of Winnipeg who has been involved with fire safety education for a number of years. Jeff has helped out by developing Hot Tip scripts, writing and editing site content and many other things.
Both Jeff and Mitch have devoted many hours of their spare time to help Staying Alive that we have lost count. They have been instrumental in developing and introducing many new ideas for the Staying Alive program. Thank you for everything that you have done to help us get the message out about fire safety.
